LFC Daytrippers contributor Grizz Khan has been discussing Liverpool’s pursuit of Norwich City defender Jamal Lewis on a recent edition of the podcast.

It was reported earlier this week that the Reds had a £10m bid rejected for the left-back and that the Canaries value their player at ‘significantly’ more than the aforementioned sum. It is understood that the Premier League champions are looking to bring in the 22-year-old as cover for Andrew Robertson ahead of their title defence.

When discussing the latest with regards to the club’s interest in Lewis, Khan told the panel:

“It’s just a matter of appeasing Norwich, at the moment they’re hard-balling, we’d do the same for our players but I think it’s just a matter of a couple of million extra and then the promise of add-ons and then Jamal Lewis will be a Liverpool player.”

Daniel Farke’s side finished bottom of the division last season and were subsequently relegated back down to the Championship but despite that, the Norfolk-based club ‘feel they are not in a position where they have to sell’. Lewis made 28 appearances in the top flight during the 2019/20 campaign, scoring his only goal in their 1-0 win over Leicester City at Carrow Road (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

TIF Thoughts…

According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the league was 6.46/10, which when you take into account Norwich City’s struggles as a team, we believe to be respectable. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs will reach an agreement, allowing the proposed transfer to be completed this summer.
