After football journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that “there are good possibilities” surrounding a possible move to Liverpool this summer for Thiago, Smith shared his thoughts on the matter during the podcast.

He said: “It’s great. Especially after just watching his last couple of performances in the Champions League, he’s been a little bit of a maestro in that midfield for Bayern, I think.

“If we’re able to get him and have that addition into our midfield, it just gives us another level of dynamism moving forward next season – it moves away from that workmanlike midfield into something with a little bit more – players that can pull the strings and in a little bit more areas and I think that will be huge for us given the amount of competitions we’re going to be in next year.”

Thiago recently helped Bayern to win the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend in which he earned himself a match rating of 7.48/10, making him the highest-rated player on the night (per WhoScored).

Overall, since the midfielder arrived in Germany back in 2013, he has gone on to make a total of 235 appearances for Bayern in which he has scored 31 goals and provided 37 assists (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

Now that Thiago has just won the Champions League with Bayern in what could potentially be his last game for the German club, if he were to make the move to Liverpool this summer, they would be getting someone who is a proven winner at the highest level.

It seems that now, according to Romano, it could be a case of wait and see if Liverpool manage to secure a deal for the Spaniard this summer.
