Liverpool have enquired about the Greek striker Marios Tzavidas, according to Panathinaikos-focused outlet Trifilara (via The Boot Room).

The Reds recently completed the signing of Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos but it now seems they have opened up a dialogue with fierce rivals Panathinaikos over the 16-year-old attacker.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

According to Trifilara, the player was set to sign a professional contract with the Greens prior to the global pandemic but nothing has materialised since. It’s understood that Tzavidas has attracted the interest of a number of clubs including PAOK and Olympiacos domestically, along with PSV Eindhoven, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and FC Midtjylland.

TIF Thoughts…

He was the top goalscorer in Panathinaikos’ Under-17 team last season and if the Premier League champions were to move for Tzavidas, we believe this would very much be a signing for the future.

The profile of some of the clubs linked with a move for the young striker suggests he is somebody who has made quite the name for himself, despite being at such a young age.

Are you glad to see Liverpool seemingly planning for the future?

Liverpool were crowned English champions for the first time in 30 years last season and if they are planning on being as successful in the seasons to come, there is an argument that perhaps the business they do with a view to the future is as important as addressing their immediate needs.

Although Liverpool are said to have made initial enquiries about the player, there is nothing to suggest they are close to agreeing a deal that will see him join the Anfield club.
