2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

After it was recently reported that newly-appointed Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has allegedly told Suarez that he doesn’t plan to use the striker next season, Doyle shared his thoughts on the possibility of the Uruguayan making a return to Anfield this summer.

He said: “I wouldn’t take Suarez back at all. I actually think that he’s gone. He’s gone over the hill, in the sense of his pace has gone, I think, a little bit and while he’d be great just to bring on in the last 20 minutes and just annoy everybody, but, would he want to do that? I’m not sure. I think that particular boat [has] sailed.”

Liverpool signed Suarez back in the 2011 January transfer window from Ajax for a fee of £23.85 million. During his time with the Reds, Suarez scored 82 goals in 133 appearances before making a mega-money move to Barcelona in 2014 in a deal worth £73.55 million.

Since making the move to Spain, Suarez has gone on to make 283 appearances for Barcelona in which he has scored an impressive 198 goals and provided 109 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

Despite his fantastic goalscoring record for Barcelona, it appears that Doyle believes Suarez is past his best form and it would not be worth it for Liverpool to bring him back to Anfield this summer.

With Suarez’s goals tally in La Liga steadily decreasing from the 2015/16 season onwards, this could well be the proof that he is indeed not the player he once was.
