Leeds United journalist Beren Cross has shared a new update on Leeds’ reported interest in signing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

This comes after Cross recently took part in a live Q&A for Leeds Live to answer a range of questions related to the Yorkshire club.

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

During the Q&A, Cross was asked if there is “anything in” the rumours linking Nandez with a move to Elland Road this summer after it was previously reported by L’Unione Sarda (via Sport Witness) that Leeds and West Ham United are “circling” a move for the Uruguayan, to which Cross replied.

He said that he is “not aware” of anything that would link Marcelo Bielsa’s side with a move for Nandez this summer.

The 24-year-old central midfielder, who is currently valued at £18.9 million according to Transfermarkt, signed to the Italian club back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Argentinian side Boca Juniors for a fee of £16.2 million.

Since then, the 24-year-old has gone on to make 38 appearances for the Italian club with 35 coming in the 2019/20 Serie A campaign and the other three coming in the Coppa Italia.

In his 35 league appearances for Cagliari last season, Nandez managed to score two goals and provide three assists throughout the season (per WhoScored).

His performances in those league appearances earned the Uruguayan a season rating of 6.65/10.

TIF Thoughts…

With Nandez having only played one season at Cagliari, it would seem unlikely that they would be willing to sell their midfield man after shelling out £16.2 million for him last year.

With Cross having no knowledge of any interest from Leeds for Nandez, this move seems very unlikely to take place this summer.
