Castles used his time on the podcast to talk about many transfer stories and one of the stories that he spent a bit of time on was the Toffees’ move to sign the Brazilian international.

It seems as if Castles sees this as a positive move for Ancelotti because it shows the club are prepared to support him, and it looks like the Toffees will be paying just under £27m for Allan.

He said: “Over the weekend they [Napoli] entered into negotiations with Everton for the sale of their midfielder Allan and I believe they now have an agreement with Everton on that deal for an initial €30m (£26.88m), which they managed to complete Sunday night [going] into Monday morning.

Later on in the podcast, Castles explained why Everton want to sign Allan, saying:

“He has played for Carlo Ancelotti, he was a key part of Ancelotti’s team at Napoli, and I think it’s a good sign for Carlo Ancelotti, who has begun to make noises about [the] lack of support in the transfer market, that Everton are prepared to back him in making an investment in an older, very talented player that he thinks is right for his system regardless of the pricing in a period in which football has economic difficulties.”

TIF Thoughts…

At Napoli, Allan played 61 games for Ancelotti in which he scored one goal and provided three assists.

He is 29 but has eight caps for Brazil and has been linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid in the past, so if Castles’ claim about this deal is correct, then Everton could be getting an exciting player.

He did not have his best season last year, only playing 23 league games and only averaging a 6.66 rating in those games according to WhoScored, but it seems as if the club are prepared to back Ancelotti and bring Allan to Goodison Park.
