The reports state that Everton have a lot of interest in the deal but that Atletico’s demands could complicate any move.

While it is unknown how much the Madrid club want for the World Cup winner, but considering they spent £63m on him in 2018, you might think it could be close to that amount.

The Toffees have also been linked with a move for Leon Bailey, so it will be intriguing to see who Everton go for.

TIF Thoughts…

Since moving to Spain, Lemar has made 72 appearances, in which he has scored three goals and provided six assists, and it is clear from his 29 appearances in the 2019/20 season that he is struggling at Atletico as he has failed to directly contribute to a single goal.

Lemar is now 24, and a move away from Atletico might be the best thing for him, but if Atletico’s demands are high, it is easy to see why this deal could become a problem the Toffees to complete.

Lemar was once supposedly the subject of a £92m bid from Arsenal, but he is now only worth £21.6m according to Transfermarkt, so you could say his stock has fallen a bit since this move to Atletico.

Now might be the time to get out and try the Premier League, but it could all come down to the fee that Atletico want.

This could be a deal to keep an eye on as the window progresses.
