According to reporter Alan Nixon, Crystal Palace and Leeds United are interested in a summer move for Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia.
Nixon stated on Twitter that Norwich City would want £20 million for the Argentine winger, and mentioned that Leeds United and Crystal Palace ‘like’ the 23-year-old.
Buendia arrived at Norwich in a £1.35 million deal from La Liga side Getafe back in 2018 and has gone on to make 80 appearances for the Canaries, scoring nine goals and providing 25 assists.
Last season, the winger scored one goal and provided seven assists for the side that finished bottom of the Premier League table, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.08/10 – ranking him as the club’s best player by quite a considerable distance.
And despite playing for a side that scored fewer goals (26) than the number of games they lost (27), Buendia still managed to create the fourth-most chances in the Premier League last season, behind only Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
As such, it would certainly appear that the 23-year-old is extremely capable of performing in the Premier League, and if purchased by a side with slightly more firepower than Norwich, it would appear he has the potential to provide a great deal more than the seven assists he managed last season.
Would you like to see Palace make a £20 million move for Buendia this summer?
Yes
No
Furthermore, at just 23, it could be argued that Buendia is still developing as a player, meaning that should he continue on his current trajectory, the £20 million that Norwich are reportedly asking for this summer may even increase in the future.
TIF Thoughts…
Palace managed just 31 goals in the Premier League last season – with Norwich being the only club who scored fewer times in the league last term – the potential addition of the £13.05 million-rated Buendia could add a bit of a spark to the Palace attacking lineup, which it would appear is much needed.
