Journalist and Aston Villa fan James Hendicott has made a claim on Chelsea striker and former Villa loan star Tammy Abraham.

This comes after Hendicott recently made an appearance on Villa-themed podcast For The Love of Paul McGrath to chat about a range of topics concerning the club.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

On the subject of which players he would like to see Villa sign this summer, Hendicott chose Abraham as someone he would like to see in a Villa shirt next season.

He said: “I think if we’re going to go dreamland about it, I’d like Tammy Abraham back. I think he’s been even better for Chelsea than he was for us and they’ve just gone out and spent a hell of a lot of money on a striker, so maybe it’s not completely beyond the realms of possibility.”

Abraham joined Villa on a loan deal from Chelsea back in August 2018 where he spent the 2018/19 season as a Villa player.

During that time, the striker managed to score 26 goals and provide three assists in 41 appearances for the club.

After returning back to Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £36 million, made a total of 46 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions in which he managed to score 17 goals and provide six assists along the way in the 2019/20 season (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

As Hendicott mentioned in the podcast, Chelsea recently signed German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for a reported fee of £47.7 million.

Werner’s arrival at Chelsea could result in Abraham not getting as much game time next season, which could potentially make him want a move away to somewhere that he is guaranteed to be a regular starter.

It will be interesting to see if Villa try and make a move for the striker this summer and if Chelsea would be willing to let him go.
