Speaking recently on his Ask Ornstein YouTube show, David Ornstein provided an update on the contract negotiations between Arsenal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Since making the move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in what was a £57.38 million deal back in January 2018 (as per Transfermarkt), Aubameyang has gone on to prove himself as a brilliant signing for the club, scoring a remarkable 70 goals and providing 15 assists over his 109 appearances, as well as being made club captain.

Once again last season, the 31-year-old was in great form for the Gunners, scoring 22 goals and providing three assists over his 36 Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.03/10 – ranking him as the club’s second-best performer in the league.

As a result of his fine form, Arsenal have been keen to tie the striker down to a new deal this summer, something which Ornstein provided an update on during a recent episode of his show.

He said: “I don’t know about an announcement, it appears from the outside like things are moving in the right direction. I think it’s still got work to be done on, but all soundings sound positive. It looks like both parties are in good shape to extend that deal. But certainly, as I know it, it’s not done yet.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, it would appear that, according to Ornstein, things are looking positive regarding Aubameyang’s new contract at Arsenal, which, even though the deal has not been finalised just yet, must be music to the ears of many Arsenal fans.
