Charles Watts, who reports on Arsenal for Goal, recently posted a Q&A video on his YouTube channel and the journalist spent some time talking about the Gunners’ interest in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey during the Q&A.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Ghana international throughout the current transfer window. The North London club are said to have had two bids rejected for Partey, with Atletico reportedly insistent that they won’t part ways with the £36m-rated midfielder for less than his €50m (£45.5m) release clause, as per The Guardian.

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

Watts was questioned about the Gunners’ interest in Partey during his recent Q&A, with one Arsenal fan asking the journalist: “Is Partey signing in [the] next few days? Is this true or has it been speculation from the start?”

The reporter then responded to that question by saying: “It’s not speculation at all. The fact he might be signing in a few days – that’s speculation because I certainly don’t understand that that’s true – but Arsenal want Thomas Partey, that’s not speculation at all: it’s fact.

“Thomas Partey’s quite interested in a move to Arsenal, he hasn’t signed his new contract that was on offer from Atletico Madrid because of that.

“In terms of Arsenal’s interest in Thomas Partey, it’s absolutely 100% true, it’s just a case of [whether they can] find the money.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, it’s clear that Watts is convinced that Arsenal’s interest in Partey is genuine and not just speculation.

However, judging by the reporter’s comments, it also appears as though the north London club do not yet have the funds available to them that will allow them to meet the player’s release clause.

Watts did also explain that the player would like to move to the Emirates though. So, with that in mind, it may be fair to say that this looks like a deal that can happen if the Gunners can raise the required funds.
