Charles Watts, the Arsenal correspondent for Goal, discussed Matteo Guendouzi during a recent video on his YouTube channel.

The 21-year-old midfielder hasn’t featured for the Gunners since their Premier League defeat at Brighton back in June and it is understood that Mikel Arteta and the coaching staff have encountered problems with the player’s attitude and general conduct (as per The Athletic).

Guendouzi has been ordered by his head coach to train alone as a result of this and according to James McNicholas and David Ornstein, Arteta has been disappointed by the player’s unwillingness to change or apologise (as per The Athletic).

Talking about the Frenchman and what the future may hold for him, Watts had this to say: “Matteo Guendouzi is a player that Arsenal want to get out. He’s done and dusted at Arsenal now, he’s fallen out with [Mikel] Arteta, he’s fallen out with the hierarchy, he’s not even been training since the Brighton incident. He has to do his training in the morning before the senior squad even arrive.

“Arsenal want to get Guendouzi out, he’s being offered around to various clubs at the moment, either as a straight cash deal or potentially using him in a swap deal to get other targets in. That’s key for Arsenal, getting rid of Guendouzi.”

During his video, Watts referred to the ‘Brighton incident’ which saw the midfielder get involved in a spat with Neal Maupay, grabbing his opponent by the throat on the full-time whistle.

Are you expecting Arsenal to sell Matteo Guendouzi for anywhere near his market value this summer?

TIF Thoughts…

Arsenal signed Guendouzi from Lorient in a deal reportedly worth £7.2m back in July 2018 (as per Transfermarkt). Although there appear to be concerns over the player’s attitude since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, his value appears to have increased dramatically.

If the Gunners are able to sell him for anything close to his market value of £28.8m, they will make a significant profit on their initial investment which could, in theory, bolster their transfer kitty significantly for what we believe to be a crucial transfer window for the North London club.
