Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

After it was recently reported by Football Insider that Leeds are plotting a move for Barisic this summer, McGilligan shared his thoughts on the potential deal.

He said: “I think Barisic is a very good player, he’s a very decent player. Naturally, he gets forward a lot, but defensively he’s very strong and it’s no secret right now that Leeds are consistently in the market for a left-back.

“Someone like Barisic, he’s got a bit of experience and he’s played under Steven Gerrard, a growing manager in Scotland, and he’s got the most assists in the league.

“So, as a backup left-back to Stuart Dallas or whoever we’re going to have next year – I don’t think it’d be a bad signing, I don’t think it’d be a bad signing at all. Every time I’ve seen him, he’s been very decent.”

The full-back signed for the Scottish side back in the 2018 summer transfer window for a fee of £2.2 million.

Since then, Barisic, who is currently valued at £3.6 million, has made a total of 65 appearances in which he has scored three goals and racked up an impressive total of 20 assists for Steven Gerrard’s side (per Transfermarkt).

The 2019/20 season saw the Croatian make 40 appearances for Rangers across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing 14 assists along the way.

TIF Thoughts…

Looking at Barisic’s goals and assists record for Rangers since he arrived in Scotland, it’s no surprise that Leeds have been reportedly weighing up a potential transfer move for the left-back.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds put a bid in for Barisic in the coming weeks in an effort to boost their defence ahead of their 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
