On the latest episode of the Lockdown Tactics podcast, Kris Boyd, Robert Snodgrass, Jermaine Beckford and Phil Hay have been discussing the latest goings-on at Leeds United and looking ahead to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode was the relationship between manager Marcelo Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta. Despite Orta heaping the praise on Bielsa after the Whites’ title-winning campaign, which will see them return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence, Hay doesn’t seem too confident that the two share a completely healthy relationship.

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

Here’s what he had to say about the duo on the podcast:

“Someone once described it to me as two levels of insanity colliding with Bielsa and Orta. To watch them argue from time to time, you would think that they’re never going to speak to each other ever again. But it just seems to work, it’s like that Latin temperament that eventually they always meet on the same page. I think Bielsa would have every bit as much respect for Orta as Orta does for him, because the whole thing has just worked.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Hay has to say, perhaps there isn’t too much for Leeds fans to worry about when it comes to Bielsa and Orta’s relationship, as despite arguments, it seems as if they always end up agreeing in the end. The two have certainly proved to have had an effective partnership since Bielsa joined Leeds in 2018, with Orta having joined from Middlesbrough the year before, considering the club’s impressive performances in the Championship in both the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns.

Hopefully, the two can continue their partnership in the Premier League next season and work together to create another special season for the Yorkshire club.
