Paddy Miller of the Talking Shutt podcast has been discussing Leeds United’s Jack Harrison on a recent edition of the podcast.

It was announced earlier in the week that the Whites had signed the Manchester City winger on a season-long loan for the third successive campaign (as per BBC Sport).  The 23-year-old has played for the Yorkshire-based club on 91 occasions so far, contributing 10 goals and 12 assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

During a successful 2019/20 campaign for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in which they secured promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years, Harrison started in 98% of their league fixtures, making 46 appearances in total, scoring six times and assisting on eight occasions.

When discussing his development, whether re-signing him was good business for Leeds and how far he can go in the Premier League, here is what Miller had to say:

“If you look at how much he developed last year under Bielsa and obviously how much fitter he was as well, I think he’s got the right attitude, he wants to step up, it’s going to be a challenge for him, like all the players. But he’s young enough as well, so I think long-term, it’s a great investment for the club, I think we’ve got to pay £10m at the end of this loan instead of £8m.

“Which again, I think is a great deal for us because if you were selling him in today’s market you’d probably get £15m for him, especially with his performance last year.”

Are you pleased with the re-signing of Jack Harrison?

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear from Miller’s comments that he views Harrison as somebody capable of stepping up and competing at Premier League level. His average performance rating in the Championship last season was a solid 7.03/10 according to WhoScored.com, making him the club’s sixth most consistent performer throughout the campaign – highlighting his importance to the side and therefore it is no wonder this Leeds follower is pleased to see that he’ll be part of their Premier League squad next season.
