Leeds United YouTuber Conor McGilligan has shared his thoughts on what he describes as Leeds’ ‘strange’ transfer chase for Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White.

This comes after McGilligan shared a video on his Leeds-themed ‘In Full Swing‘ YouTube channel where he talked about a plethora of transfer rumours surrounding the Yorkshire club this summer.

Starting with an easy one how many points did Leeds end the season with?

Upon reading out a tweet claiming that White has recently moved into a house close to Brighton’s training ground, after it was reported that Leeds have had two bids for the defender rejected by the club in recent weeks, McGilligan shared his thoughts on the matter.

He said: “This is such a strange saga with Ben White, isn’t it? It’s like we both love him as a player, I don’t think Brighton have seen the best out of him at all. It seems like all the hype that we’ve given him has probably spurred a lot of Brighton fans and Brighton people on in terms of looking at how good he is and how good we perceive him to be and the fact that we’re in the Premier League and a lot of it is attributed to him.

“I think that we’re still going to be with him until the end [of the transfer window], going for it.”

After spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Marcelo Bielsa’s side, White returned to his parent club after making a total of 49 appearances for Leeds, in which he scored one goal and provided two assists for the Elland Road club (per Transfermarkt).

White’s performances in the 46 league appearances he made for Leeds during the 2019/20 season earned him a season rating of 7.09/10, making him their fifth-highest-rated player for their previous campaign (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Given the fact that Leeds have reportedly made two big offers to Brighton for White already, this shows that they are serious about getting him back to Elland Road on a permanent basis for the upcoming season.

It will be intriguing to see if Leeds decide to make a third bid or if they decide to walk away from the potential deal altogether.
