Leeds United are one of a number of clubs hoping to land Queens Park Rangers’ Eberechi Eze this summer, according to a report from the Mirror.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent 2019/20 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing his teammates with eight assists in 46 Championship appearances (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). According to WhoScored.com, the player’s average performance rating in the league last season was an impressive 7.36/10, making him the league’s third-most consistent performer (min. 21 apps) behind Matheus Pereira of West Bromwich Albion and Brentford’s Said Benrahma.

It’s also understood that Crystal Palace and West Ham United are keen on the attacking midfielder though QPR are unwilling to entertain any offers below £20m and it remains to be seen whether this will be too far for Leeds to stretch in their reported pursuit of the player.

The Mirror claims that Leeds want to sign as many as four players ahead of their top-flight return, with Eze thought to be on Victor Orta’s shortlist.

Eze, who started his career with Arsenal’s youth sides, is regarded currently as one of the Championship’s ‘best young talents’ and is a strong dribbler and set-piece taker (as per WhoScored.com).

TIF Thoughts…

It could be argued that Eze would be the perfect long-term replacement for Pablo Hernandez, who, despite having an impressive season during which he contributed nine goals and nine assists, turned 35 earlier this year.

The Whites have already completed the permanent signings of Illan Meslier, Helder Costa and Joe Gelhardt this summer (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). The QPR star’s current contract at Loftus Road is due to expire at the end of next season, so if nobody matches the west London club’s asking price for Eze, they could risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
