Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which reports are relayed of the club’s interest in Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis.

According to a tweet by Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, Leeds have made contact with the 20-year-old’s agent regarding a move, while AC Milan and Real Betis are also interested.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

This news was then relayed by James Marshment on Twitter, who added that Benfica would be after ‘€20m-€30m’ for Florentino, although a move for the midfielder could be available on a ‘two-year loan with an obligation to buy’.

In reaction to his post, fans of Leeds flocked to have their say on the matter, with many claiming that the club’s reported interest in the player is Marcelo Bielsa’s work.

Considering the fact that Leeds United are entering into their first season back in the Premier League for 16 years, it has to be said that competing with the likes of AC Milan and Real Betis for a player like Florentino is certainly impressive.

Although the midfielder made just 10 appearances in Liga NOS this season, partially down to injury problems, the 20-year-old highly impressed whenever he did feature for the club, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.19/10.

However, despite the obvious potential of the 20-year-old, some Leeds fans feel that their club do not need to sign Florentino this summer.

Meanwhile, one fan took the time to respond to their fellow Leeds fans who were claiming that the club didn’t need Florentino.

We have to agree with this last fan, as while it is true that the club have Kalvin Phillips – who was one of the club’s best performers in the Championship last season – in defensive midfield already, it could be argued that making the step up to the Premier League successfully would likely require investment and squad depth given the increased quality level of oppoosition.

And, in our opinion, after such a long spell out of the top flight, we would suggest that Leeds fans should enjoy rumours like the Florentino one, as it is a sign they are once again beginning to become a force in English football.
