Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news linking them with a move for David Turnbull.

The Daily Mail (via Daily Record) recently reported about Turnbull, saying that the Hoops could be set to step up their interest in the Motherwell midfielder once again. It has been claimed that Celtic head of recruitment Nick Hammond recently kept an eye on the 21-year-old during the 3-2 defeat to Kilmarnock at Fir Park in a behind closed doors friendly.

The Daily Record has also suggested that Motherwell know about interest in Turnbull from Newcastle United, with boss Steve Bruce one of the midfielder’s admirers.

This update about Turnbull left many Celtic fans talking as they made their opinions clear following the reports.

Turnbull was close to sealing a move to Celtic in the summer of 2019. Motherwell and Celtic had agreed a £3.25 million fee, but Turnbull had failed his Parkhead medical and the move collapsed. The medical revealed that the midfielder needed ‘immediate preventative knee surgery’.

Because of the latest update involving Turnbull, some other Celtic fans also began talking about whether the club should sign him or not.

Turnbull missed 35 games in the 2019/20 season due to the knee injury. He did return to action towards the end of the campaign, playing a couple of games before the season was curtailed. In the 2018/19 season, he had impressed for Motherwell, directly contributing to 23 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions.

The fact that he played in their recent friendly against Kilmarnock shows that he is well on the comeback trail to full fitness. With Olivier Ntcham being linked with a move to Southampton, Turnbull might turn out to be his replacement – so Celtic might want to keep following his progress.
