Supporters of Celtic have been reacting to a transfer rumour linking the Hoops with a move for AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas.
According to Sportime journalist Gian Chorianopoulos, Neil Lennon’s outfit made a transfer offer to secure the services of the 26-year-old stopper.
However, reportedly, the Greek outfit turned down an offer of €3.5m (£3.2m) plus ‘one bonus’ for Barkas.
The Athens club is after €7m (£6.4m) to let the goalkeeper leave the club according to Chorianopoulos.
This report was then shared to Celtic fans by Celtic Gossip and this had lots of supporters talking.

Think they looking £6.5m for him so we know how that one will end up.

We’d want to get the finger out in signing a few players. Always left to the last minute

During the 2019/20 season, Barkas featured in 20 Super League 1 matches in which he kept 10 clean sheets and conceded 15 goals (per Transfermarkt).
Some reports suggesting a deal could be close. He’s also called the wall in Greece. Good keeper and @26 we should be paying at least £5m for this guy.

Take him and the defender in front of him, sure they were brilliant against us in the qualifier

While the goalkeeper has two years left on his contract in Greece, despite AEK Athens wanting €7m (£6.4m) for his services, he only has a market value of £2.16m (per Transfermarkt).
Do you believe Celtic would pay €7m (£6.4m) to sign Vasilios Barkas?
No, we won't pay that
Yes, I think we'd pay that
He looks as close to a Forster level than anyone else we’ve been linked with.
Hopefully we get him. Big presence and commanding which we definitely need..— McGuire (@McGuire_67) July 22, 2020
As can be seen in these responses from Celtic fans, there is a split between those believing the player is a talented stopper and those believing that the club will not fork out €7m (£6.4m) for him.
