Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which the club announced a partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
According to a statement on the club’s website, the new partnership with Celtic’s youth academy will help provide ‘expert insights’ into ‘three key areas of strength and conditioning, sports nutrition and recovery, and overall readiness to play in elite youth football’, and that the deal will ‘help produce stars of the future’.
However, after the news was relayed by the club’s official Twitter account, fans flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the club should focus on signing a goalkeeper, rather than creating partnerships with universities.
Are they good in goals

Can they play in goal?!??
(no joke we need a keeper)— seanzolio (@seanzolio) July 23, 2020
While it would appear that this new partnership could indeed help benefit the club’s long term future, it would seem that many of the Celtic fans are more concerned with the club’s need of a goalkeeper, which, as they currently only have Scott Bain – who made eight appearances last season – as an option in the position, is, agreeably, a legitimate concern.
Is a goalkeeper Celtic's biggest priority this window?
Yes

Is this the best Celtic can do??? Paisley Tech by another name. The University of Stirling has long been recognised as Scotland’s leading University for sport. The biscuit tin mentality still pops up periodically at our club https://t.co/SAK1ZamBKO

With a crucially important season coming up for Celtic next term, as the club has the opportunity to win a historic 10th Scottish Premiership title in a row, we can understand the frustrations of these fans in wanting to see their club bring in a new goalkeeper- even if the transfer window did only open last week.
