Journalists David Wren and Stewart Weir joined host Ross Bennett on the latest edition of the Gersnet podcast to discuss the latest goings-on with the Glasgow-based club and one of the topics of discussion that came up during the show is the possibility of the Gers making a move to sign Liverpool attacker Rhian Brewster.

Brewster joined Championship promotion contenders Swansea City on loan from Liverpool back in January and thus far during his loan spell at Swansea the 20-year-old forward has scored 10 goals in 21 appearances, prior to Wednesday evening’s Championship playoff clash between the Swans and Brentford.

Earlier this year, reports emerged claiming that Rangers are ‘eyeing up a loan move’ for the England U21 international and now, amid reports linking Alfredo Morelos with a move away from the club, Weir spent some time discussing a possible move by the Scottish Premiership side to sign the Liverpool man this summer during the latest edition of the Gersnet podcast.

Weir said: “Rhian Brewster has been out and about in terms of loan deals, he’s one of the guys who is well thought of in terms of what he’s done as a player. He’s the kind of player that Liverpool don’t know how to use or can’t really use or utilise him, but they maybe don’t want to lose his services, they want to keep him a Liverpool player. So, therefore, you’d be looking at a relatively big fee if it was to go beyond a loan deal.”

Do you think Rangers are likely to sign Rhian Brewster on a permanent deal?

TIF Thoughts…

It appears as though Weir believes that Brewster would command a large transfer fee if Rangers were to try and pry him away from Anfield on a permanent deal, however, given that the 20-year-old is currently out on loan from Liverpool and the Gers have been linked with a loan move for the attacker in the past, perhaps a loan deal could suit all parties involved here if Rangers would be happy with that.
