Speaking recently on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Rangers legend Barry Ferguson discussed the current situation of Alfredo Morelos, suggesting that the 24-year-old looked out of shape in the Gers’ recent matches.

Morelos was once again Rangers’ star man in the 2019/20 season, scoring 29 goals and providing 10 assists across 46 appearances in all competitions for the club, taking his total number of goals and assists to 77 and 29 respectively in 137 appearances for the Scottish giants.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

As a result of his impressive performances for the Gers, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Glasgow this summer, with Sky Sports reporting that the striker has agreed personal terms with French side Lille, with the two clubs still said to be discussing a fee for the £13.50 million-rated forward.

On the subject of Morelos, Ferguson recently claimed that he thinks the player’s head already could have been turned, as well as the fact that the striker hasn’t been putting in the work for Rangers during pre-season.

He said (32:20): “I’ve always said this – I’m a fan of Morelos. I think if you get Morelos up and running and fit, he’s a very good player. Also, I understand if somebody is going to come in with the types of bids that are being mooted about over the last day or two, £15 million, I think Rangers would take it, if I’m being honest with you.

“I watched them against Coventry, I don’t think he looks at his sharpest, if I’m being honest. He’s not as sharp or fit-looking as the other Rangers players. Morelos looks a wee bit off it. I don’t know whether that’s him thinking about wanting to move.

“I think it’s clear that the manager needs to know what he wants to do going forward. He either stays and you get him up to scratch and he gets back scoring goals, he’s going to be a real player for Rangers. But if his head’s turned with an agent telling him there are two or three clubs in for him, then you need to make a decision.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, it would appear that Ferguson believes Rangers need to clarify exactly what is happening with Morelos soon in order for their plans in the 2020/21 campaign to not be scuppered by his sudden departure.

Would you be happy to see Rangers sell Morelos for £15 million this summer?

This, in our opinion, certainly does not sound like a bad idea, and with the figure of £15 million being mentioned for the potential sale of Morelos, such a value would certainly be useful for Steven Gerrard in improving his squad over the transfer window.
