Celtic pundit Chris Sermanni believes that January signing Patryk Klimala could get first-team football soon.

Sermanni was a guest on the latest episode of The Cynic Weekly podcast and a discussion took place about the situation of Klimala. The pundit delivered his verdict about the Polish striker and he believes that Klimala will get some first-team football at Parkhead soon.

Klimala, who is valued at £3.24 million, had joined Celtic from Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok in the January of 2020. The striker had arrived for a fee of £3.60 million (via Transfermarkt).

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

When talking about Klimala, Sermanni revealed that the striker could get his chances at Celtic soon enough.

He said: “Klimala, I think he will get chances. If we are going to play two up front, Klimala will have more opportunities to get a shot than [Ismaila] Soro will in the coming season.

Will Klimala get regular first-team football in the 2020/21 season?

Absolutely!

Absolutely!

No, I don't think so

“And again, part of it is all about grabbing your opportunities when you can. Now, some players take a bit of time to warm up and you need a few games to get anywhere. But I reckon if Klimala comes in and gets a few goals, he could see himself in the mix. And as you say, he looks a lot stronger than he did previously.”

Sermanni clearly thinks that if Celtic do play a two-striker formation next season, Klimala will get chances to shine and if he can impress during those appearances, he could get more first-team football.

TIF Thoughts…

Klimala is yet to feature regularly for the Hoops and he couldn’t really break into the first-team in the 2019/20 campaign. The Pole made four first-team appearances, but he is yet to make a single Premiership start. He got an assist for himself in a Scottish Cup game against Clyde (via Transfermarkt).

Before arriving at Celtic, Klimala had contributed to ten goals in 17 league appearances for Jagiellonia. He had found the back of the net seven times, picking up three assists as well (via Transfermarkt).

This shows that he certainly has potential in him and can contribute to goals. But he is only 21 and could be taking time to settle in at the Glasgow-based club. The fact that Neil Lennon did trust him with some minutes in the 2019/20 season could be a sign of things to come.

Celtic had played the 3-5-2 shape quite a few times in 2020 and if they keep using that next season, Klimala’s chance may not be too far away.
