Celtic podcaster Chris Sermanni has made a claim about Callum McGregor and he believes that the midfielder could look to leave soon.

Sermanni appeared as a guest on the latest episode of The Cynic podcast and the panel talked about McGregor. Sermanni gave his verdict about the midfielder and he believes that he could look to make a move away from Parkhead at some point in the future.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

McGregor is a product of the Celtic youth academy and has come through the ranks at Parkhead itself. He spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Notts County (via Transfermarkt).

While talking about the midfielder and his future at Celtic Park, Sermanni said: “What’s noble about him, though, is he’s very rarely linked away with us. You get the odd tenuous link when [Brendan Rodgers] is linked with him but you never really hear about other clubs coming in and moving for him.

Can McGregor leave Celtic in 2021?

Yes, he can

Yes, he can

No, he'll stay

No, he'll stay

“Now, I think that may change next year. See after the 10, I think you will hear about clubs coming and looking at McGregor. He may reconsider his position within the club at that time.”

Sermanni believes that while there are no concrete links about McGregor leaving Celtic, things could soon change in the future.

TIF Thoughts…

McGregor, who is valued at £3.60 million currently, was a crucial player for Celtic in the 2019/20 season. He contributed to 23 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions. In the Premiership, he directly contributed to 16 goals in 30 appearances as well (via Transfermarkt).

The midfielder had played the most number of minutes in the season for the Hoops and it shows his commitment for the club and is proof of how he’s a vital cog in the wheel for the side too.

He could also be a crucial player for them in Celtic’s hunt for the tenth Premiership title in a row next season and the Hoops can’t afford to lose him at this point in time. If his stock does rise because of the title win next season though, Celtic might have to be wary of losing him in the future.
