On the latest episode of the Celtic Underground Podcast, host Harry Brady was joined by journalist Lawrence Donegan and Antony Murray to discuss the latest goings-on at the club, with a focus on some of the potential transfer business that could happen this summer.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode was reported transfer target Vasilios Barkas. The AEK Athens shot-stopper has been linked with a move to Celtic Park in recent weeks, and with Fraser Forster now looking unlikely to return to the club next season, perhaps a move for the Greek ‘keeper could be on the cards.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Here’s what Donegan had to say about the 26-year-old:

“I tell you [who] I looked at last night, the Greek boy in Greece. He looks decent. He looks like Craig Gordon-plus. He’s called ‘the wall’ in Greece as well, by the way.”

TIF Thoughts…

The comparison with Gordon certainly bodes well for Celtic fans, considering the ‘keeper made 242 appearances for the Hoops in his time with the club; keeping 121 clean sheets in the process (per Transfermarkt). With the 37-year-old having departed the club to join Hearts recently, you could certainly argue that Neil Lennon’s side are in need of a new goalkeeper ahead of next season, so perhaps we will see them make a move for Barkas in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Should Celtic move for Barkas this summer?

It has been previously reported that AEK Athens would demand £5 million for his signature, so it wouldn’t be a hugely expensive deal for the Bhoys to complete.
