The Athletic’s Celtic correspondent Kieran Devlin has made it clear that he is ‘excited’ to see Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro in action in the 2020/21 season.

Devlin recently hosted a Q&A session about Celtic on The Athletic’s website and fans asked him many questions about the upcoming Premiership campaign and the club’s intentions in the summer transfer market.

One fan made a comment about Soro and Klimala. He said that it ‘remains to be seen’ if the Polish striker can provide some competition in the role of a backup striker and if Soro can play the role of a holding midfielder to help the club ‘ease’ Scott Brown’s ‘regression’.

Will Klimala and Soro get first-team football next season?

Yes, surely!

The journalist answered this comment, saying that he is more ‘optimistic’ about Soro than Klimala right now. He said that his judgment is based on what has been seen from them and from what he has ‘been told by journalists and scouts who cover their previous leagues’. Devlin also said that he is ‘excited’ about them.

Here is what he had to say in full: “I’m more optimistic about Soro than Klimala, judging on both what we’ve seen of them so far and from what I’ve been told by journalists and scouts who cover their previous leagues. Who knows! Excited to see the pair of them get chances.”

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

TIF Thoughts…

Both the players had joined Celtic in January, but couldn’t make an impact in the first team. Soro didn’t make a single Premiership appearance while Klimala could play only 15 minutes in the league in the second half of the campaign.

Both of them played in the club’s friendly against Hibernian recently and Lennon did make comments about their performances. Lennon said that Klimala is now “getting used to the British game” and “worked hard” in the outing against Hibs.

For Soro, he said that the Ivorian “did well” and that he has seen “big improvements” from the midfielder in recent times. Those are optimistic signs and going by the comments from Lennon, Celtic fans should certainly be excited about their potential involvement next season.
