Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news regarding the breakdown of the proposed Saudi-backed £300 million takeover of the club.
This comes after football journalist Jason Burt shared a post on his official Twitter page linked to his piece for The Telegraph going into detail on the Saudi bid’s collapse.
In his tweet, he wrote that the “biggest stumbling block was not the piracy issue but Premier League concerns over whether it was the Saudi state and not an independent investment fund buying the club.”
This post from Burt then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this update from the journalist.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post from Burt:

It was recently revealed by Sky Sports that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and Reuben Brothers had withdrawn their interest in replacing Mike Ashley as Newcastle’s owners.
It’s a complete disgrace

In a statement from the Investment Group, they said that the “prolonged process under the current circumstances coupled with global uncertainty has rendered the potential investment no longer commercially viable.”
Corrupt premier league not wanting anyone challenging their beloved top 6. The PIF will be back in for a club, this time 1 in the top 6. Watch it fly through and watch us all be told that it’s different this time, they’ve got their house in order.

That doesn’t come into the owner and director tests however. It is the background of the named individuals who are subject to the test
Sounds like a hatchet job by @premierleague if this is true— Richard Patterson (@spaniels1980) July 30, 2020
Now that Burt has shared this post on his official Twitter page claiming what he sees as being the main issue with the proposed takeover, this sparked a huge reaction with lots of Newcastle fans sharing their thoughts on Burt’s comment.
If this was Man U getting taken over it would’ve been ticked off months ago let’s be honest

It appears that these Newcastle fans are not accepting this point from Burt that the Premier League had concerns over whether it was the Saudi state and not an independent investment fund buying the club.
Despite them being disappointed with the breakdown of the takeover, at least these Newcastle fans now finally have an answer on whether or not the takeover will happen or not.
