According to recent reports, Celtic are interested in a summer move for West Ham United striker, Albian Ajeti.

Reports by Sky Sports claim that Neil Lennon is ‘keen’ on the 23-year-old forward with Celtic said to have contacted West Ham asking if the East London club would be willing to either sell or loan out the forward this summer.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Ajeti only joined the Hammers last summer, in what was a £7.83 million deal from FC Basel 1893. However, the Swiss international has failed to establish himself in the West Ham first-team, making just nine appearances over the course of their Premier League campaign, all of which were from the bench.

It was also reported that, due to this lack of game time, the striker was open to a loan move away from the club in January but nothing materialised. So it would seem that the forward would not be against leaving the club once again this summer.

TIF Thoughts…

Celtic were reported to be interested in the striker before he made his move to West Ham, but were eventually priced out by the Premier League side.

However, it is not surprising that the Hoops remain interested in the 23-year-old, as his stats throughout his final season at Basel were very impressive.

In all competitions, the forward scored a remarkable 21 goals and provided 11 assists over 43 appearances, taking his total while playing for Basel to 43 goals and 21 assists in 96 matches.

As such, if Celtic are, firstly, able to convince the £4.32 million-rated Ajeti to join them this summer, and, secondly, able to help him refind his form from the 2018/19 season, then it would appear that they would have an extremely prolific striker on their hands.
