Premiership giants Celtic have been tipped to sign Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen by Italian legend Dino Zoff.
As per the Sunday Post, Zoff spoke about Olsen and focused on the Roma goalkeeper’s links with a move to Celtic, suggesting that the Swede would be a ‘great fit’ for the Hoops.
The Scotsman reported some days ago that Olsen had ’emerged’ as a potential target for the Bhoys in their search for a goalkeeper. The report claimed that Celtic are ‘carefully monitoring’ the Roma man.

While talking about Olsen, Zoff said that the goalkeeper’s stature would be an advantage for him in the Premiership and suggested that he would be a ‘good signing’ for the Bhoys.
He said: “I think he would be a good signing for Celtic. He has matured as a footballer during his time in Italy.
“I also think his physique and height would be to his advantage in the Scottish league. His size doesn’t hinder him, either. He is athletic and has sharp reflexes, qualities you need in a goalkeeper.”

Olsen, who is valued at £5.85 million, joined Roma from Copenhagen in the summer of 2018 but spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Cagliari. He has now returned to his parent club (as per Transfermarkt).
In the 2019/20 season, the Swede made 19 senior appearances in all competitions for Cagliari, in which he kept a total of four clean sheets. At Roma last season, he had played 35 games and kept seven clean sheets in total.
Olsen is currently 30 years of age, so may not offer much of a resale fee. Meanwhile, the Hoops are already in advanced talks to sign Vasilios Barkas from AEK Athens, who is four years his junior. He was a regular for his club in the 2019/20 season and at 26, could also come in as a more long-term option.
So while Zoff’s praise might be justified, Celtic may be better off signing Barkas instead of Olsen.
