Premiership giants Celtic are reportedly interested in signing West Ham United’s Grady Diangana, who is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

According to the print edition of The Sun (via NinetyMinutesOnline), the Hoops are interested in Diangana. The Bhoys are said to be ‘admirers’ of the 22-year-old but the Baggies are looking to keep the player at The Hawthorns. He is said to be valued at £15 million.

Diangana had joined West Brom on loan from the Hammers in the summer of 2019. He is set to return to the club at the end of the 2019/20 Championship campaign (via Transfermarkt).

Should Celtic break their transfer record for Diangana?

TIF Thoughts…

In the 2019/20 campaign, Diangana has made 28 appearances in all competitions. He has contributed to a total of 13 goals, with seven of them being goals and six being assists (via Transfermarkt). The Englishman is versatile in the three behind the striker as he can play as a left-winger, right-winger or as an attacking midfielder. The winger has earned plaudits from pundits throughout the season during what has been an impressive campaign for the 22-year-old.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

As per Transfermarkt, Celtic’s current transfer record stands at £9.27m – the fee that they paid to sign Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2018. The report claims that West Ham want £15 million to part ways with Diangana and if Celtic want to sign him for that price, they would have to shatter their transfer record.

The pandemic has impacted finances in football and as a result, clubs may be affected in the transfer market. So Celtic may not be able to pay that amount for Diangana and might have to settle for cheaper alternatives, so they may not break their transfer record this time around.
