Premiership side Celtic have now got a breakthrough in their chase to sign former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Football Insider have recently reported that the Hoops are ‘closing in’ on the signature of Hart and have now had a breakthrough in negotiations to capture the Englishman. A source has told Football Insider that Neil Lennon has held multiple talks with the former Burnley man and the talks are said to be ‘progressing well’.

Lennon is said to be looking for a ‘top-class’ goalkeeper and while there is no agreement in place for Hart, there has been ‘growing’ hope that they can strike a deal for the Englishman.

This comes after the Daily Record had reported that the Hoops have held talks for Hart and further talks were scheduled to be held later on.

Indeed, the report also states that the Hoops manager is a big admirer of the ‘keeper and believes he has the experience and pedigree to handle the club’s 10-in-a-row tilt.

TIF Thoughts…

Hart is currently a free agent as his contract at Burnley had expired at the end of June. In a recent interview with the BBC, Hart had said that there is plenty more to come from him and he will repay the faith of whoever believes in him.

In the 2019/20 season, Hart didn’t make a single Premier League appearance for Burnley, playing a couple of FA Cup games and one League Cup game. This could be a sign of Hart’s decline and goes to show that he might not be good enough to be a first-team regular in the Premier League now.

It proves that signing Hart could be a big gamble for Celtic and they might want to avoid a move for the ‘keeper.
