The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has been discussing what Wolverhampton Wanderers’ captain Conor Coady is like on the pitch.

Wolves’ 27-year-old central defender has been situated at Molineux for five years now, having signed from Huddersfield Town for £2.52m in 2015 (per Transfermarkt).

Prior to the Old Gold’s clash with Burnley, Coady has made 230 appearances for Wolves in which he has bagged two goals and seven assists.

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast following Wolves’ 3-0 win over Everton, Spiers discussed what Coady is like on the pitch.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “I listened to Coady for 90 minutes, basically, to the many instructions that he offers. I mean, it’s hilarious. He’s the loudest man in the stadium by a massive distance.

“This foghorn voice of his, it’s remarkable and once you sit back and make the effort to actually listen to him, he’s basically Nuno [Espirito Santo] on the pitch – and he speaks far more than Nuno, by the way. But it’s constant encouragement and positive reinforcement and managing people’s positions, managing that defensive line.

“Yes, [Ruben] Neves was exceptional, so was [Daniel] Podence, but I thought Coady was flawless, actually. Everton didn’t trouble him too much.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say, it seems that Coady has quite the presence on the pitch for Wolves – which is what you would perhaps expect from a club captain.

However, whichever way you look at it, having a “Nuno on the pitch” can in no way be a bad thing for the Old Gold.
