The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has been discussing the possible sale of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star striker Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican forward has been at the club since the summer of 2018, having initially arrived on loan from SL Benfica before the move became permanent for a club-record fee of £30m (per BBC).

Since then, the 29-year-old has already been linked with a move away from the club, with Tuttosport having suggested that Juventus are one club supposedly keeping tabs on Jimenez.

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers discussed a possible sale of Wolves’ star striker.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “I did a piece on Jimenez last week saying he’s been flirting with other teams, which is what he has been [doing]. He hasn’t been closing down the issue in the interviews he’s been doing back home.

“But hey, there’s an argument to be said, he’s 29, he’s probably worth at least £50m now; if you’re ever going to get money for him, now’s the time to do it. There is that argument.

“However, it’d be such a massive disruption and replacing him would be so difficult that I’m not sure they’ll look to do that.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what The Athletic reporter had to say, it seems that Jimenez has not closed down rumours of him leaving outright, however, Spiers does not believe that Wolves will be looking to sell him.

Would you be open to selling Raul Jimenez for a fee of £50m?

Yes, that's a good price

Yes, that's a good price

With the forward having a market value of £36m and Spiers suggesting that he is worth “at least £50m”, at the very least it seems that the Old Gold would get more than the £30m they paid for Jimenez if he did end up leaving.
