The Express and Star reporter Joe Edwards has been discussing the futures of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Neves has been at the club for the longest of the duo, having signed for the Old Gold from FC Porto for £16.11m in the summer of 2017 (per Transfermarkt).

Moutinho then joined the club a year later for just £5.04m from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco (per Transfermarkt).

While both midfielders have featured for a large number of Wolves’ Premier League games this season (per WhoScored), in the latest episode of The E&S Wolves Podcast, Edwards aired that a preference for one of the two players may begin to develop.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “We’ve [seen] Moutinho play a little bit less recently.

“I think he still has a big part to play for Wolves, Moutinho, but I think in the next two years or so, this team will really be shaped around Neves.

“I know he wasn’t exactly a bit-part player anyway, but I think he will be the focal point, going forward.

“He will be the talisman, the one who controls games, who dictates games. That’s what we’ve seen anyway, that’s what it seems to be pointing towards.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Edwards had to say, it is clearly his belief that there will be more of a reliance placed on Neves and less so on Moutinho within the next two years.

Who do you believe is currently the better player?

With Moutinho being a 33-year-old now and Neves being 10 years younger as a 23-year-old, Edwards’ claim does perhaps not come as that much of a surprise.
