The Express and Star journalist Joe Edwards has been discussing the recent injury picked up by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Pedro Neto.
Prior to the Old Gold’s trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Wednesday night, it was revealed that the young attacker would be missing the clash (per Express and Star).
It was revealed by Nuno Espirito Santo that the 20-year-old had taken a “strong kick” against Arsenal and that was why he would be absent.
So, in the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast on Thursday, Edwards discussed the injury to the youngster.
He said: “Well, Nuno, in typical style, said it was a ‘strong kick’ against Arsenal.
“He didn’t travel to Sheffield United or at least, I didn’t see him. So, that will be one for Nuno tomorrow [Friday] in his press conference.
“If it’s Neto or if it’s [Daniel] Podence, or if it’s [Morgan] Gibbs-White, I just think there needs to be somebody operating in that hole. Traore, I’d probably start on the bench [against Everton], especially with his shoulder.
“I think he’ll be back to 3-5-2. But 3-5-2, for me, with [Leander] Dendoncker, [Joao] Moutinho and [Ruben] Neves in there at the moment is just a bit too defensive, and I just think maybe Gibbs-White could make it a bit more attack-minded.”
TIF Thoughts…
As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, it is his belief that Wolves need an attack-minded player centrally and should Neto be fit, that could be him, Podence or Gibbs-White.
If Wolves play 3-5-2 against Everton, do they need one of the three central midfielders to be more attack-minded?
Yes, it'd make a difference
No, not really necessary
Of the three options, Neto would seem like the best as he has earned the strongest average rating of the three players in the Premier League this season with a 6.45/10 (per WhoScored).
