NEC Nijmegen central midfielder Dirk Proper has signed a new deal at the Dutch-based club after reportedly turning down interest from Wolves.

This comes after it was recently reported in an article from Voetbal International (via @TalkingWolves) that the 18-year-old signed a new deal at his club, despite the reported interest from Wolves, Brentford, Ajax and PSV.

This new deal will reportedly see Proper remain at NEC until 2023.

The central midfielder has worked his way through the youth system at the club since 2011 (per Transfermarkt).

For the Under-17s, Proper made 27 appearances, in which he managed to score three goals and provide five assists. For the U19s, he made 23 appearances, scoring once and providing just one assist.

Proper has also made nine appearances for the senior side, though he is yet to register a goal or assist.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering how Proper has reportedly turned down interest from not just Wolves, but from the likes of Ajax and PSV as well, this suggests that he is happy at NEC and feels like that is the best place for him to grow and develop his skills as a player.

Given how Wolves already have Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Leander Dendoncker, Morgan Gibbs-White, Bruno Jordao and Connor Ronan in their squad that are capable of playing in a central midfield role, maybe it would have been difficult for Proper to get much game time at Molineux if he were to make the move there this summer.
