To start this quiz on Mark Noble with a tough one, in what year did the midfielder make his league debut for the Hammers?

The BBC commentator spoke about a few other things, but he provided his view on the situation at West Ham if the Hammers are relegated.

Here is what he had to say about the situation.

“If they go down, it will be a massive financial hit for the club and in a terrible time for football.

“There was a report the other day saying there was a £500m collective Premier League loss because of the lockdown.

“It’s crucial for all of these clubs to stay in the Premier League this season. The players’ values at West Ham United has dropped during this period.

“Rob [Green] was talking about Sebastien Haller, what was it [that they spent on him], £40m or something? They’ll take a hit of about £10m on him if they have to sell him, Felipe Anderson they’ll probably take a hit of about £10m [on him too].”

It seems as if Pearce does not predict a good future for West Ham if they were to go down.

TIF Thoughts…

The value of all of the West Ham squad, except David Martin, has fallen (According to Transfermarkt) because of the current viral pandemic as have player values from around the world.

So, if the Hammers were to be relegated, Pearce is right; they could lose money on a lot of their players.

However, considering they are just out of the relegation zone on goal difference, we think the focus will be on making sure they aren’t relegated.

So, until the end of the season, we feel it is pointless speculating on what might happen to the Hammers’ players in the summer.
