In a recent column for The Athletic, David Ornstein recently revealed that Queens Park Rangers winger, Eberechi Eze, is a summer target for both of Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
In the article, Ornstein writes that both London clubs are the ‘main contenders’ for the signature of Eze this summer, with QPR said to want £20 million for the winger, although, as Ornstein states, ‘it is likely that they will have to accept considerably less’.
It is not difficult to see why the Premier League rivals are interested in the 22-year-old, as he has been one of the stand out performers in the Championship this season, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists over his 45 appearances in the competition, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.36.
This rating not only ranks the winger as the club’s best performer of the season thus far, but also as the third-best in the Championship.
TIF Thoughts…
With reports suggesting that Wilfried Zaha is attracting interest once again this summer, it would seem that a player like Eze could be a suitable replacement for the 27-year-old, should Zaha actually leave the club.
However, with not a great deal of selection in the attacking midfield department, it could be argued that Eze would be a fine addition to the Palace ranks even if Zaha remains at the club this summer.
And, with Ornstein suggesting that the 22-year-old could be available for less than £20 million, considering his returns in the Championship this season, it would seem that he would be a very fine piece of business indeed.
