On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Jamie Brown and Daniel Merriman have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and looking ahead to the final game of the season against Crystal Palace.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Finishing Strong‘, was Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani. The 33-year-old is now a free agent after leaving PSG this summer and was linked with a move to the North London club back in January. McQueen seems desperate for the Lilywhites to bring in the man who hit 200 goals in 301 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what he had to say about the forward on the podcast:

“Six or seven weeks ago we talked about Cavani. Go and get him, he’s free. Absolute ‘worldie’. Like [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic was at Man United for Jose Mourinho. Go and get him and say ‘right, this is what we think.'”

TIF Thoughts…

We can see why McQueen makes the comparison between Cavani and Ibrahimovic, as the Swedish forward was signed on a free transfer by current Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho during his time at Manchester United and proved to be a big success for the Red Devils; contributing 29 goals and 10 assists in just 53 appearances (per Transfermarkt).

Would you like to see Spurs move for Cavani this summer?

Although Cavani would perhaps demand high wages should he join the North London club, his goalscoring record during his career thus far suggests he could prove to be extremely effective, whether it’s alongside, or as a back-up to Harry Kane. The Lilywhites really struggled for attacking options earlier this season when Kane was ruled out with his hamstring injury, so you could argue that they need another forward this summer, and perhaps Cavani could be the man they bring in.
