On the latest episode of Tottenham Hotspur podcast The Extra Inch, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark, and @BardiTFC have been discussing the latest goings-on at the north London club, with a focus on some of the players who have been linked with the Lilywhites in recent weeks.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Sold Elvis, Bought The Beatles‘, was former Spurs winger Marcus Edwards. The 21-year-old was linked with a move back to the North London club earlier in June, after impressing in his first season with Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes. The Englishman has contributed six goals and four assists in 20 appearances in the Liga NOS, averaging a superb 7.37 rating (per Whoscored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Clark had to say about the winger and a potential move back to the club: (34:15)

“He left on such terrible terms. Some suggest that the fall out was exclusively with [Mauricio] Pochettino. Now that that’s cleared, he’s free to return back, but my very vague understanding is it’s a little deeper than that and even then you still wouldn’t really want to come back, would you?

“So I don’t think it makes sense for him. I understand that we have some clauses on his contract and maybe we’re just interested in talking up his value and sticking our fingers in and trying to raise some more funds that way. He’s a very talented young player, and he will command value both now and in the future. So I don’t know what more we can get out of him as an asset, but I don’t see him returning to us as a footballer.”

TIF Thoughts…

It has been suggested that Spurs have a 50% sell-on clause in the youngster’s contract, so it would perhaps be a surprise to see them make a move for him this summer, as they would potentially lose out on a fee. During his time at Spurs, Edwards was compared to Lionel Messi but went on to make just one first-team appearance for the club, which suggests that talent was never his problem.

Can you see Edwards wanting to return to Spurs?

Clark suggests that even if the Lilywhites were interested in bringing him back this summer, then the 21-year-old wouldn’t be keen anyway, so perhaps we will have to see the winger prove himself further before earning a possible move back to Spurs.
