On the latest episode of the Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing the latest goings-on at the north London club, reacting to the win against Arsenal last weekend, and previewing Wednesday night’s game against Newcastle United.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Mourinho Gonna Mourinho: Winning The NLD‘, was Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. The trio were discussing potential players that Spurs could move for from the teams likely to be relegated from the Premier League this season, and it seems as if Clark is a big fan of the 24-year-old.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what he had to say about why Spurs should try and sign Grealish this summer:

“Grealish is so good, he’s absurdly good. [Emiliano] Buendia [is] very good as well. Again, the thing with Grealish is that we’ve got [Giovani] Lo Celso, and Grealish and Lo Celso are very, very similar players, I feel. Grealish is just too good for the Championship.”

“If we were a rich team with loads of money to chuck about, then Grealish would be an obvious one.”

TIF Thoughts…

Spurs were close to signing Grealish back in 2018 but the deal fell through, and the North London club will perhaps rue that mistake as the Englishman has proved himself to be a quality player this season. The midfielder has contributed seven goals and six assists in 33 Premier League appearances, averaging a superb 7.22 rating (per WhoScored).

Although Dean Smith’s side are currently occupying a relegation spot, you would imagine that they would still demand a high price for the £27.45 million rated man this summer, even if they do go down. As Clark suggests, this may rule out a move to Spurs, with Jose Mourinho’s side potentially dependant on free transfers and swap deals in the upcoming window due to the financial impact of the current viral outbreak (per Evening Standard).
