Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to slate the performance of Harry Winks in Wednesday’s 3-1 win against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
A first-half goal from Heung-min Son, followed by a second-half double from Harry Kane sealed the three points for the Lilywhites against Steve Bruce’s side, but it seems as if some fans of the north London club felt that Winks’ performance was less than impressive.
The England international earned a fairly solid 6.87/10 rating for his performance against the Toon, but that didn’t stop some fans from criticising him on Twitter. So far this season, the 24-year-old has averaged a 6.55 rating across 29 appearances in the top-flight, having contributed no goals or assists (per WhoScored), which perhaps explains why some Spurs fans were critical of the midfielder’s lack of creativity.
A sample of tweets from Spurs fans slamming Winks’ performance against Newcastle United can be seen in the tweets below.
Do you think Winks was poor against Newcastle?

This is so boring, Winks is just a modern day version of Jermaine Jenas. Don’t care we are 1-0 up. We are so poor

Some Spurs fans were especially critical of the midfielder’s passing.
I don’t know why Winks even bothers looking up-field… everybody knows it’s going sideways or back… #COYS #THFC

Overall, it seems clear that these Spurs fans were less than happy with the £28.8 million-rated man’s performance against Newcastle United.
