Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest update on Southampton midfielder and reported transfer target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which suggests that Everton have now bid for the 24-year-old.
According to TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook (via Daily Hotspur), the Toffees have bid £25 million for the former Bayern Munich man. His tweet suggests that Spurs are still keen on signing him this summer, but are currently unwilling to match Everton’s reported bid.
Other reports have suggested that talks are already underway between Spurs and Southampton for the Danish midfielder, with Kyle Walker-Peters potentially set to be included in a deal for the midfielder. Certainly, the Dane looks likely to leave Southampton this summer, with Ralph Hasenhuttl having stripped him of the captaincy not long after opting not to extend his Saints stay and openly expressing a desire to play in the Champions League (per BBC).
Who is Hojbjerg most likely to join?
Spurs
Everton
Whilst neither Spurs nor Everton will be playing in the Champions League next season, it seems at the moment that it will be those two clubs battling it out for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest update on Hojbjerg can be seen in the tweets below.
Here we go again. Daniel levy haggling over a reasonable transfer fee

Same old story than. Jose won’t get backed. Levy won’t cough up the asking price for a player. When is he gonna understand that the market is extortionate these days and we have to compete otherwise we will fall further behind. Just pay it!

Some Spurs fans urged Daniel Levy to just complete the deal.
25M is a solid chunk of cash that seems overpriced for Hojbjerg. But if Levy is unable to find a deal that works with Soton in combining KWP, whilst getting a fairer deal that that offer, i’ll be greatly disappointed. This is Levy’s chance to walk the talk and back our manager.

Typical Levy, I might have guessed that

Here we go out bid by a mid table team once again! Clubs a joke really is

Overall, it seems clear that these Spurs fans want to see their club complete the signing of Hojbjerg and don’t want to lose out to Everton.
