On the latest episode of the Tifo Football Podcast for The Athletic, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Joe Devine and Alex Stewart have been talking about some of the latest goings-on in the Premier League, including a discussion of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

It was recently revealed that the French midfielder is now likely to miss the rest of the season through injury, bringing an end to what has been a disastrous debut season in the Premier League. Spurs signed the 23-year-old for a club-record fee last summer but he has failed to impress with his performances in the top flight, averaging a 6.71 rating across his 21 appearances (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Following reports that the midfielder has fallen out with Jose Mourinho, here’s what Stafford-Bloor had to say about the former Lyon man:

“[Mourinho] obviously has a few issues with people within the squad – Tanguy Ndombele, obviously I think that’s a situation which has reached a point of no return. He’s actually injured now, so we probably won’t see him for the rest of the season. He might not play for Tottenham again.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the amount of money Spurs spent on Ndombele last summer, it would perhaps be hard to see the £46.8 million-rated man leaving Spurs easily this summer, especially with the current economic climate in football. Some Spurs fans will no doubt be hoping that the Frenchman can shake off his fitness and injury issues and be fit and raring to go ahead of next season but considering that Barcelona have been linked with a potential swap deal for the midfielder, it is perhaps easy to see why he might have played his last game for the North London club.

It will be interesting to see if Mourinho and Ndombele can repair this seemingly broken relationship during the off-season, and whether or not the 23-year-old will still be a Spurs player by the start of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
