Many Leeds United supporters have been discussing Tyler Roberts’ performance during the club’s victory over Barnsley at Elland Road on Thursday evening.
The Championship leaders narrowly beat Gerhard Struber’s Tykes thanks to Michael Sollbauer’s own goal on 28 minutes to take another step towards securing promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
The 21-year-old was substituted by Marcelo Bielsa at half time and replaced by Pablo Hernandez and many of the Elland Road faithful took to social media in response to have their say on the Welshman’s performance.
Roberts is horrendous, invisible man! Doesn’t make himself available for us to pass through the middle. #lufc

Roberts a passenger again. I’m still not sure what the thinking is behind that one. #lufc

Disappointed in Tyler Roberts. You would think if he knew Pablo was likely to replace him at half time, hebwould try a bit more in the first half to impress. #lufc

Roberts looks injured, about as fast as me at the moment!

Roberts, who is valued at £3.24 million (as per Transfermarkt), has produced three goals in the Championship this season but is yet to provide any of his teammates with an assist. Pablo Hernandez, who replaced the former West Bromwich Albion striker, has been far more productive in the final third, scoring on eight occasions and assisting seven times. Fans continued to make their feelings known regarding their player’s performance this evening.
Were you disappointed with Tyler Roberts' display versus Barnsley?

Roberts was shocking that half!
Need to bring the ? on for the 2nd to take control & get us through!! #LUFC— Glynn (@GlynnTQ) July 16, 2020
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters were far from impressed by what they witnessed from Roberts and it could be argued that Marcelo Bielsa felt the same given he took the decision to replace him so early.
