Tottenham Hotspur journalist Chris Miller has made a claim on Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko and his future at the north London club.

This comes after Miller recently hosted an episode of The Extra Inch, a Spurs-based podcast that covers the latest news surrounding the Lilywhites.

On the topic of Sissoko and his fellow midfield teammate Harry Winks, Miller shared his thoughts on the duo and what the club should do with them ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

He said: “I said in a previous podcast that we should consider selling Winks or Sissoko. I stand by that, I mean, of the two, obviously, I’d prefer to hang on to Winks because I think he’s a better footballer, I think he’s more versatile – I think he’s potentially more midfield-versatile. And I also obviously think he’s important in terms of the homegrown quota.

“I don’t have those same feelings about Moussa Sissoko. I think it makes sense to sell him as he’s getting older anyway, and I think although he does some good things, I think he’s a weak spot in the team and in the squad, but I do stand by the fact that if we can’t sell Sissoko we should probably sell Winks.”

Sissoko, who is currently valued at £18 million according to Transfermarkt, first joined Spurs back in 2016 for a fee of £31.5 million from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United.

Since then, the 30-year-old has gone on to make 159 appearances for the club in which he has managed to score four goals and provide 15 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Sissoko’s performances in the 28 Premier League appearances he has made for Spurs so far this season has earned him a season rating of 6.73/10, making him Spurs’ 12th-highest rated player for this campaign (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

It’s a shame that Miller thinks the club should get rid of Sissoko in the upcoming transfer window. However, looking at his season rating for this campaign, as well as the fact that he is now 30-years-old, it will be interesting to see if the Lilywhites cash in on Sissoko this summer.
