Tottenham Hotspur journalist Chris Miller has been sharing his views on Spurs manager Jose Mourinho.

This comes after Miller recently hosted an episode of The Extra Inch, a Spurs-themed podcast to discuss all the latest news surrounding the north London club.

On the topic of Mourinho, Miller shared his thoughts and feelings on the manager and what it’s like having him as the gaffer of the club.

He said: “I really, really don’t want Jose Mourinho to be our manager, but he is our manager, and he’s getting results and so he will continue to be our manager whilst he continues to get results.

“I don’t think he’s a progressive coach for Spurs. I think he is potentially a toxic influence at the club. I think he’ll ruin some relationships between players in the club. I also think he can win us trophies. I think he can win a trophy next season. I think he could win us trophies the season after, and I suspect we’ve got him for two or three years.

“I don’t really like the style of football, but I completely appreciate that given the circumstances post-Project Restart, with what he’s had to deal with beforehand, and the return to fitness of players, I completely understand the choices he’s made. I appreciate the fact that he’s done well, points-wise.

“I don’t like watching Spurs at the moment in terms of our play style. I do like watching Harry Kane, and so I will find these things to keep me watching Spurs and enjoying it.”

Back in November, Mourinho was appointed as Tottenham’s head coach on a deal that would see him take charge of the club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

During his time at Spurs, Mourinho has taken charge of 34 games in which he has seen his team win 16, draw seven and lose 11 along the way (per Transfermarkt).

This record has seen Spurs pick up a points-per-game average of 1.62 under Mourinho.

With just one game left to play, Spurs currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League table with 58 points, just one point behind Wolves in sixth place (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts…

It seems as though while Miller doesn’t particularly enjoy having Mourinho as Spurs boss or watching the style of football he has the team playing at the moment, he does, however, believe he could deliver some trophies during his tenure at the club.

If Mourinho does guide his current club to some titles in the future, this could well help improve Miller’s opinion of the manager.
