Liverpool journalist James Pearce has made a claim on Reds defender Dejan Lovren and his future at Anfield.
This comes after Pearce recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Red Agenda Podcast to talk about the latest news concerning the Merseyside club.
On the topic of Lovren, who has recently been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, Pearce shared his thoughts on the matter.
He said: “We don’t know what’s going to happen with Dejan Lovren. We know that there’s interest, serious interest in him from Russia. I think Liverpool will be looking for £10/£12 million for him.
“But if he goes, I think they’re going to need to bring in a centre-half as well, because I’m not convinced either Sepp van den Berg or Ki-Jana Hoever are ready to be thrown into a Premier League game at centre-half, so there’s a lot of things up in the air regarding this summer.”
The 31-year-old defender, who is currently valued at £14.4 million according to Transfermarkt, first signed to Liverpool back in 2014 from Southampton for a fee of £22.77 million (per Transfermarkt).
Since then, Lovren has made a total of 185 appearances for Liverpool. However, this season has seen the centre-half make just 10 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League, with his last appearance coming against Everton last month.
The Croatian was an unused substitute in both of Liverpool’s two previous league matches.

Given how many appearances Lovren has made for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, it could be assumed that he isn’t a crucial figure for the squad or else he would have been given more games for the Reds.
