Fans of Tottenham have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays quotes from Jose Mourinho on the club’s transfer set-up, as well as the future of Kyle Walker-Peters.
In a report by Alasdair Gold for Football.london, the journalist relayed remarks made by Mourinho during a recent press conference.
And, when asked about the future of Walker-Peters, who is currently on loan at Southampton, Mourino stated: “He’s playing well. I’m not in control of the transfer decisions but the general feeling is there’s a place for him here. But if his desire is to leave the club in search of happiness I don’t think we’d stop him.”
In reaction to these quotes, which were relayed on Twitter by Gold, fans of Spurs flocked to have their say on the matter, with many focusing on the fact that Mourinho stated he was ‘not in control of the transfer decisions’ at the club.
What does he mean by not in control of transfers decisions?

That comment shows why no manager succeeds under these owners.

While these Spurs fans appear to be slightly surprised by the fact that Mourinho is not in control of the transfers at the club, this is not an uncommon occurrence in a modern football club.
Having said this, Tottenham do not currently have a sporting director or a director of football, meaning that it is likely down to Daniel Levy to dictate player incomings and outgoings.
Would you like to see Spurs hire a director of football this summer?
Yes
No
And, judging by their comments, it would appear that this is what has annoyed the Spurs fans.
Cleary no DOF in the summer.amazed jose took the job knowing levy would be in control of ins and outs

We need a sporting director like luis campos. Neither the manager or levy should be in charge of the players we sign.

This is the issue right here. “I’m not in control of transfer decisions”. We can debate Levys investment or lack of it all day however we should all be able to agree that the chairman, a man with limited football knowledge should not be in charge of transfer activity. Madness. https://t.co/wF5ZxL24eW

Levy will never allow a manager to succeed. Never. https://t.co/4VIlcTKng0— Jamie Durrant (@JDuzza10) July 8, 2020
Mourinho’s admission that he is not in control of the club’s transfers appears to have fanned the flames for many of the club’s fans to call for both of Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis to sell the club.
